The University Grants Commission (UGC) will assume responsibility for determining the equivalency of higher education degrees and issuing equivalency certificates from July 17, following a recent legal amendment.
The function had previously been carried out by Tribhuvan University's Curriculum Development Centre.
In a notice issued on Thursday, the Curriculum Development Centre said the authority was transferred to the UGC after Section 6 of the University Grants Commission Act, 2050 was amended through the Some Nepal Acts Amendment Act, 2082.
With the new provision coming into effect, the centre said it will no longer accept new applications for degree equivalency.
The amendment transfers all responsibilities related to the recognition and equivalency of higher education qualifications to the UGC from July 17 onward.
