UML ready to work together with Madhes-centric parties: Pokharel

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML general secretary Ishwar Pokharel has said his party was ready to work together with Tarai centric parties and amend the constitution.

Speaking in a programme organised to congratulate the newly elected people's representatives in the Capital today, Pokharel stated that the constitution amendment should be based on genuine issues. He further shared that the UML would support the Tarai centric parties to form a provincial government in Province-2.

On another note, Pokharel said that the party unification process with CPN Maoist Centre and formation of new government could not be taken in a same context. However, both issues were forwarded simultaneously.

Another meeting of the party unification committee to be held soon would take further decisions regarding the party unity, according to him.

Meanwhile, UML secretary and Province No-1 coordinator Bhim Acharya, organising a press meet today itself has claimed his candidacy for chief minister in Province-1.

He refuted the rumor that he involved misappropriation while distributing tickets to the party candidates in the recent elections.

It may be noted that the UML politburo member Sherdhan Rai is also claiming for the chief minister in the same province.
