UN Nepal celebrates IDAHOTB

KATHMANDU: United Nations in Nepal in collaboration with British Council Nepal celebrated International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia (IDAHOTB) today.

A ceremony to hoist the rainbow flag or pride flag was held today at the UN House in Pulchowk, Lalitpur to commemorate the special day.

The programme was attended by representatives from Blue Diamond Society, a well-known social organisation working for LGBTIQ in the country, Mitini Nepal, a women-led organisation for LGBT and various other inclusive forums.

Representatives from @BDS_nepal @MitiniNepal & Inclusive Forum have acknowledged the government of Nepal’s effort to recognize the rights of LGBTIQ+ people in the constitution but lack of translation of the rights has made them face discrimination & abuse. pic.twitter.com/L5hNgWvrfy
