UN official calls on PM

KATHMANDU: Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific of the United Nations, Shamshad Akhtar, on Friday paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Akhtar had visited the Office of the Prime Minister at Singha Darbar today and the duo discussed activities of the UN ESCAP and the regional commissions, according to the PM's Secretariat.

Established in 1947, ESCAP represents 53 nations of the Asia and the Pacific including Nepal and nine nations from other regions.

Akhtar, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Pakistan, had been leading UN ESCAP since 2013.
