UNHCR gets over 7 lakh contraceptives meant for refugees

Kathmandu, November 23:

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Nepal on Thursday handed over 700,000 male condoms and 5,000 female condoms to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.

Abraham Abraham, the UNHCR representative in Nepal, thanked UNFPA.

The UNHCR, together with UNFPA, is aiming to increase awareness on family planning and protection against sexually transmitted disease in refugees.

“Enabling access to condoms is a key component in ensuring that every community and every person has the necessary tools to make informed choices and empowered decisions,” said Junko Sazaki, the UNFPA Representative to Nepal.
