Urge to implement disable-friendly provisions of Constitution
KATHMANDU: The National Federation of the Disabled Nepal (NFDN) underscored the need for implementing the disable-friendly provisions incorporated in the Constitution.
At a press conference organised by the NFDN here today, the Federation's President Shudarson Subedi bemoaned that no deliberations were held on the differently-able persons at the regional level meetings such as the SAARC Council of Ministers Meeting recently held in Pokhara.
He shared that of the total 22,000 injured during the Gorkha earthquake, 5,000 persons developed physical disabilities.
According to the World Health Organisation estimate, there are around 2 million people with disabilities in Nepal.
AlsoMeanwhile, it was shared that NFDN President Subedi was elected the treasurer of the 9th executive committee of the Disabled People's International.
A total of 10 countries in the world have disability-friendly constitutions, it was shared.
