US Embassy decision on Nakarmi case by Thursday

KATHMANDU: The US Embassy on Friday discussed with the relatives of Sunny Nakarmi, who was hit by a vehicle driven by the embassy staff five weeks ago, about providing compensation to the injured.

Nakarmi, who is a student of Ace Management College, was injured when a vehicle driven by the US Embassy staff, Jennifer L Kerr, hit him while riding his motorcycle. The injured is still in coma is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kathmandu.

According to Keshav Khatri, coordinator of Sunny Nakarmi Life Protection Struggle Committee, Eric C Browning Larsen, Human Resource/Financial Management Officer at the Embassy assured them to provide the final decision by Thursday.

“We demanded the embassy to facilitate his good treatment, compensation, life security and action against the culprit,” said Khatri. “Larsen expressed his qualms over our campaign and media deal, which was not necessary to solve the issue.” he quoted Larsen as saying. “ Larsen said, it would have been better if we had directly dealt with the embassy on the issue,” Khatri added.
