US envoy Alaina B Teplitz calls on PM Dahal
KATHMANDU: US Ambassador to Nepal Alaina B Teplitz today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter’s residence, in Baluwatar, on Monday.
Teplitz discussed contemporary political issues, law and order and other bilateral issues with PM Dahal, informed the PM’s Secretariat.
On the occasion, PM Dahal informed the US Ambassador about the commitment of his government to reach consensus for the Constitution amendment and its effective implementation.
Dahal also assured the US envoy that justice would be provided to the victims of insurgency era cases on the report prepared by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons.
Meanwhile, Dahal also expressed his interest in the future political developments of the United States of America after Donald Trump was elected next president in the recent election.
Teplitz stated that the election would not affect the relationship between the two countries.
She was also of a view that Nepal was moving forward in a positive manner and that the US government would be ready to help Nepal in maintaining peace and order.
