US envoy meets Nepali Congress president

KATHMANDU: US Ambassador to Nepal Alaina B Tepliz paid a courtesy call on Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Friday.

During the meeting that took place at Koirala's residence, Maharajgunj, matters relating to country's contemporary politics were discussed, according to Koirala's advisor on foreign affairs, Dinesh Bhattarai.

On the occasion, the US Ambassador said the US always wanted to see durable peace, political stability and institutionalisation of inclusive democracy in Nepal. In response, the President of main opposition party said the Congress party had registered the Constitution Amendment Bill at the Legislature Parliament as its effort to institutionalise inclusive democracy and efforts were underway to garner support of all regarding the Bill.
