Motorists obstruct road protesting uneven supply of petrol in Thimi

KATHMANDU: Motorists have obstructed a section of the Araniko Highway in Bhaktapur, nearby the Guhyeshwori Petrol Pump, run by Armed Police Force, after they were denied petroleum products, on Thursday.

According to Traffic Police Inspector Mahesh Thapa, the motorists barred the road with their vehicles after the Thimi-based petrol pump was unable to supply fuel to them.

He further added that the fuel station was unable to supply the petrol because the number of vehicles was more than what they had anticipated.

As announced by the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), fuel was supposed to be distributed on the basis of lots of the vehicles. Motorcycles of 1-30 lot and cars of 1-5 lot were scheduled for the refill today.

NOC had also said a total of 1.2 million litres of petrol would be distributed to private vehicles from today till Saturday in Kathmandu Valley from more than 60 fuel pumps each day.
