KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 24

Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav has directed the relevant authorities to complete the construction of a sewage treatment plant in Dhobighat, Lalitpur, on schedule and to bring it into operation as soon as possible. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of the construction thus far.

Minister Yadav issued this directive during an onsite inspection of the under-construction sewage treatment plant today. The plant is being built by the Project Implementation Directorate under Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL).

During the visit, Minister Yadav emphasized the project's critical importance for sewage management in light of the rapid urbanization occurring in the Kathmandu Valley, underscoring the necessity of timely operation.

"The effective functioning of sewage treatment plants will significantly enhance water quality and maintain environmental sanitation in the Kathmandu Valley. Such projects will reduce environmental pollution and thereby improve public health," he stated.

Minister Yadav also pledged the Ministry's full support for the project, assuring that timely implementation would be prioritized through ongoing monitoring.

According to the Water Supply Minister, the government will continue to prioritize the construction of sewage processing plants to promote environmental conservation and enhance public health.

He instructed the construction company to complete the project within the established deadline while adhering strictly to construction standards.

Additionally, Minister Yadav inspected the under-construction sewage treatment plant at Balkumari (Kodku). After the inspection, he directed the contracting company to accelerate construction efforts by mobilizing additional resources.

During the inspection visit, the Minister received detailed information on the current status of the plant, the sewage treatment system, and the progress of the remaining work.

Ministry Secretary Er. Pramila Devi Shakya Bajracharya, Joint Secretary Ramakanta Duwadu, Directorate Director Tika Bahadur Chaudhary, and other officials accompanied the Minister during the inspection and monitoring visit.
