United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) will be destroying 7.8 metric tonnes of spoilt rice in Gorkha.
A press statement issued by WFP on Monday said that it had decided to destroy spoilt rice after lab tests were carried out by the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DFTQC) confirmed it was unfit for human consumption.

of district authorities and quality control inspectors of Nepal Government,” said WFP Country Director Pippa Bradford in the statement.
WFP’s humanitarian response in the aftermath of the April 25 earthquake was carried out in close partnership with Nepal Government.
According to the statement, WFP has reached over two million people with food and other assistance till date, working with authorities at the central, district, and village levels as well as local partners.
The statement added that WFP was working in coordination with the government to support ongoing recovery efforts while assisting in the construction of a stronger and more prosperous Nepal.
