KATHMANDU: A person was killed and another injured after a scooter they were riding on was hit by a truck in Swayambhu area of Kathmandu on Thursday night.

Police identified the deceased as Bhagawati Khatri (35) and the injured as her husband Surya Khatri (36) who hail from Gorkha district, currently residing in Nagarjun Municipality-1.

The incident occurred after a truck rear-ended the scooter near Thadobharyang killing Khatri on the spot yesterday, according to police.

The injured Khatri has been undergoing treatment at the Swayambhu-based Manamohan Hospital.

Meanwhile, police have impounded the heavy four-wheeler and taken its driver in custody for further investigation into the case.
