Women farmers facing hurdles

Kathmandu, December 16:

Vegetable farming and livestock rearing are popular occupations of women of Dalit, Janajati and other minority groups in Kapilvastu, Dang and Bardia when it comes to generating income, a report released today stated.

The report, prepared by ABTRACO Study team, outlined that the limited land resources, unavailability of inputs and quality, inadequate irrigation, lack of credit facilities and adequate veterinary services are the major problems to make more income out of the occupations.

Lack of bridges and collection centres, poor infrastructure in the market places also came on their way to increase income activities, the report said. The report recommended local bodies to establish an NGO desk.
