‘Women should unite for rights’

Kathmandu, July 31

Minister for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Ambika Basnet, has said that all women should unite to secure their rights.

At a programme organised by Nepal Women’s Association here today, Minister Basnet said that there was a challenge to establish women’s rights and added that all women should be organised for their rights.

She said that the ministry would take special initiative for the employment of youths in the country, saying youths are compelled to go for overseas employment due to lack of jobs in the country.

Similarly, NWA Chairperson Uma Regmi wished Basnet a successful term and added that the organisation has been struggling for women’s rights since 1991. She said that the new constitution has guaranteed rights of women.

Likewise, former state minister and former chairperson of NWA, Mina Pandey stressed all women should be alert about women’s participation in provincial and parliamentary elections.
