Yami tells architects to build better infrastructure
Kathmandu, May 19:
Minister for Physical Planning and Works Hisila Yami today said architects are facing a challenge to design better infrastructure than their ancestors.
While addressing an orientation programme here today, she said architects should think of developing Kathmandu Valley like any other city in the world by keeping in mind the population growth rate of 5 per cent as compared to the national average of 2.4 per cent.
Minister Yami also said that there should be a vision for Kathmandu Valley for the next 20 years. She also focused on the effective implementation of the newly enforced standards.
The orientation programme on Kathmandu Valley Building By-laws- 2007 was organised by Society of Nepalese Architects (SONA).
In his presentation, Purushottam Dongol, member secretary of Kathmandu Valley Town Development Committee, said the new building bylaws have made various changes in the bylaws.
