Kathmandu, June 27:
Young Communist League (YCL) cadres on Sunday caught two persons with skin of three leopards and an idol of Dipankar.
According to Sagar, YCL’s Valley Bureau Coordinator, Jit Bahdur Gurung, 22, of Rasuwa was caught with the 300-year old idol from Trishuli, Nuwakot , whereas Keshav Gurung, 19, of Syangja, was arrested with leopard skin from Samakhusi.
Sagar said that duo was just a mediators whereas main smugglers are still at large. “Jit Bahadur was trying to sell the idol to a smuggler in Kathmandu whereas Keshav was dealing with the smuggler for the sale of the leopard skin,” Sagar told reporters at Balaju where YCL made them public.
Jit Bahadur and Keshav Gurung said that they didn’t know the names of people, who asked them to carry the leopard skin and the idol . “I just know this idol was brought from China,” Jit Bahadur said. Sagar said that the ones they picked up were planning to sell the idol for a hefty sum of Rs 2.5 million. They handed over Jit Bahdur and seized skins to District Forest ministry. The ministry officials handed them over to the police .
