Youngster, infant rescued

KATHMANDU, April 28

A 20-year-old youth was rescued this morning from a collapsed seven-storey house near Gongabu Buspark, some 60 hours since the country was hit by a deadly earthquake.

Rescue teams of Armed Police Force, Chinese and Turkish rescuers rescued the youth after learning that he was trapped on the second floor of the house.

The search and rescue team of the APF reached the place where the boy was trapped by cutting the ceiling of the house.

On Monday, Chief of APF Koshraj Onta had reached the house and had also talked to the youth by entering into the house through a hole made by the police.

The injured is now undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital city.

Meanwhile in Bhaktapur, four-month-old son of Shyam Awal, a resident of Muldhoka — Sonit Awal — who was trapped inside the collapsed house following the earthquake was rescued this afternoon by an army team, officers at Department of Public Relations of Nepali Army said.

According to Shyam Awal, his son is receiving treatment at Bhaktapur District Hospital and is out of danger.
