Youth abducted from Kirtipur

Kirtipur, January 21

Four persons abducted Narendra Maharjan, supervisor, Kirtipur Transportation Service Company Limited (KTSCL) this morning.

"When we asked them who they were, they warned us to keep quiet," a company staffer said.

According to the staffers, the kidnappers had used a white Tata Mobile with registration number Ba 3 Cha 5915. The vehicle belongs to Kiran Bhatiya, they said.

Wife of the abducted, Sabitri Maharjan, has appealed to the National Human Rights Commission to help find out her husband.

In a press release, the company has called on the abductors to release Maharjan at the earliest.

KTSCL vice-chairman Ramesh Maharjan has stated that increasing cases of abductions have affected the youths of Kirtipur. "Naresh Maharjan, a 17-year-old student, was abducted by the security forces repeatedly. The innocent youth was so embarrassed that he committed suicide."

Seven youths have been abducted from Kirtipur in a period of one month, it is learnt.
