Youth arrested with bear gallbladder from Kageswori-Manahara

KATHMANDU: A 23-year-old man was arrested in possession of a bear gallbladder from Kandaghari in Kageshwori-Manahara Municipality-7 of Kathmandu district on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team deployed from the Metropolitan Crime Division arrestedĀ  Khagendra Rai of Phikkal Rural Municipality-6 of Sindhuli district.

In Nepal, poachingĀ  of protected wild animals and trading in their body parts are punishable under the National Parks and Wildlife Conservations Act, 1973 and CITES Convention and Act, 1975.

Meanwhile, police have handed Rai over to the District Forest Office, Hattisar, Kathmandu for further investigation and action.
