Youth Force wants YCL cadres punished

Bista family accepts body after four-point pact with Maoists

Kathmandu, July 9:

The Youth Force of Democratic National Youth Federation (DNYF) today said they would intensify their agitation if the Maoists do not accept their mistake and help independent investigation into the murder of a DNYF member Dev Singh Bista at Baitadi.

“If the Maoist do not hand over the culprits to the police we will intensify our agitation to seek their arrest,” said Garima Shah, vice-president of the CPN-UML’s youth organisation while addressing the meeting held at Bhotahity following a protest rally today.

The rally of the Youth Force was organised from Bagbazar to Bhotahity to protest the murder of its member Bista, a resident of Bijayapur-7, Baitadi, by YCL cadres.

Shah said Bista’s parents had passed long ago while his wife is pregnant and his younger brothers are working in India. She also demanded appropriate compensation for the victims.

According to Mahesh Basnet, coordinator of the Youth Force, they were seeking the arrest of the YCL cadres who had shot Bista.

Meanwhile, in Baitadi Bista’s family accepted his body after a four-point pact was reached with CPN-Maoist, chief district officer Jibachha Misra said.

According to CPN-Maoist regional bureau member and Baitadi district assistant in-charge Gopal Chand, the Maoists have agreed to help victim’s family get compensation from the government, assist in arresting the culprit and expell the guilty from party’s responsibilities.

Victim’s family, in turn, have agreed not to politicise the issue.
