Youth rally against street harassment

KATHMANDU: As many as 18 youth organisations on Saturday staged a rally in the Capital demanding an end to street harassment.

The rally from Bhrikutimandap to Shanti Batika was organised on the occasion of the International Anti-Street Harassment Week 2016.

The organisations including Yuwalaya, Youth Advocacy Nepal, Action Aid Nepal and Positive Communication Development Centre among others also staged a street drama after concluding the rally.

The drama had aimed to disseminate messages about protection measures to be taken against harassment against women at public places including streets and public transportation vehicles.

National Youth Council Vice-Chairman Madhav Dhungel had inaugurated the rally while lawmakers Jayantri Rai and Dhaniram Paudel had addressed the corner meeting organised at the end of the rally.

Around 500 youth had participated in the programme.
