Youths pressure for timely statute
KATHMANDU: Pressure mounts on the political parties and the government to work through consensus towards timely completion of the drafting of the constitution in keeping with the spirit of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
The Nationwide Youth Pressure Campaign for Constitution-Making, today organised a rally here urging the parties to build consensus and work for the timely drafting of the new constitution. They took out the rally from Bhrikuti Mandap to Basantapur, where a variety of cultural programme was organised.
Deepak Kumar Bhattarai, coordinator of the campaign, said they were pressuring the concerned stakeholders for the timely completion of the writing of the constitution as per the mandate of the Jana Andolan II.
"We are pressuring the government and other concerned bodies to work as per the mandate given by the general public," he said, adding that they were for non-violent protests, to bring about awareness among the concerned actors and stakeholders.
