KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 9

In a symbolic blend of art and diplomacy, renowned artist duo Magdalena Wallbaum and Klaus R. Gerhold presented a special Everest-themed artwork to the Embassy of Nepal in Berlin on January 29.

The presentation took place during a meeting hosted by Sagar Prasad Phuyal, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. and Head of Mission of the Embassy of Nepal in Germany.

The artists, collectively known as MK Kunst am Limit, created the original painting of Mount Everest in November 2025 under extreme conditions at an altitude of 5,000 metres, directly facing the world's highest peak.

The version presented to the embassy is a refined copy, further enhanced with gold leaf, symbolising Everest's global stature and its deep cultural significance for Nepal. The artwork has been placed on display in the reception hall of the Nepal Embassy in Berlin.

During the interaction, Ambassador Phuyal and the artists discussed the cultural importance of Mount Everest and explored possibilities for future artistic collaboration between Nepal and Germany. Ranjan Yadav, First Secretary at the Embassy, was also present.

The artists expressed appreciation for the recognition and said the initiative had enabled them to contribute to strengthening cultural ties between Nepal and Germany through art.
