Nepal's Toastmasters fraternity is gathering again this year to celebrate stories, laughter, and lifelong learning through CITATION 2025, the annual conference. The event brings together Toastmasters from varied walks of life and age groups united by a common mission to celebrate each other's accomplishments, achievements, and contribute to the larger global movement.

When Toastmasters first took root in Nepal, it began as a simple idea, to help people speak with confidence, network with like-minded individuals, and practice leadership traits. Over the years, that idea has grown into a nationwide movement. Today, Nepal is home to more than 60+ Toastmasters clubs across five provinces, spanning across corporate, community, and educational institutions. Together, they form a thriving network of individuals united by one mission: to grow through communication, courage, and connection.(CCC)

For many, Toastmasters is not just a platform to hone their public speaking skills, instead a fraternity that had helped discover their inner voices, strengthen thought processes and transform into confident purpose-driven communicators and leaders. This sense of support and camaraderie can be seen amongst all members during the annual conference of Toastmasters in Nepal, CITATION, where every handshake carries encouragement and every round of applause feels like warm welcome from family.

Looking back: A journey of growth and inspiration

Since its debut in 2018, CITATION has become one of the most anticipated events in Nepal's Toastmaster annual calendar. The first CITATION held at Hotel Himalaya, featured a stirring keynote by Dr. Rajdeep Manwani, whose story of resilience and optimism moved everyone present. The event also launched the Communicator Award, presented that year to Dr. Swarnim Wagle, and featured a panel discussion on women empowerment that left the audience inspired. The second edition saw Krishna Tamrakar receiving the Communicator Award in 2019. Even the pandemic couldn't dim the spirit as CITATION 2020 brought members together virtually, proving the connection that transcended distance.

In 2022, the spotlight was on Manisha Koirala and Shristi KC, whose stories of courage and perseverance filled the room with optimism and hope. The following year Rajesh Hamal graced the occasion, reminding participants that integrity and communication are two sides of the same coin. Last year, Atul Satya Koushik's lively keynote and Bhushan Dahal's recognition as Communicator Award recipient added a creative and reflective touch to the celebration.

Through the years, CITATION has featured inspiring speeches, heartfelt stories, and moments of laughter, all proving that learning is most effective when it is rooted in connection, collaboration and genuine encouragement.

Looking ahead: What awaits at citation 2025

This year, CITATION 2025 promises to carry its proud with renewed enthusiasm. The event moves to Best Western Plus, Sinamangal, on 15th November, bringing a refreshed setting and vibrant atmosphere while preserving the warmth, camaraderie and spirit that defines the Toastmasters community.

Attendees can look forward to insightful keynote speeches, Tall Tales, and Humorous Speeches guaranteed to tickle every funny bone, and an Evaluation Showcase - a reminder of the core Toastmaster mantra – constructive feedback fuels continued improvement.

One of the most symbolic moments of CITATION each year is the Flag March, a proud display of leadership, and pride. As the ceremony begins, District Leaders, Division and Area leaders, and Club Presidents walk with pride across the hall, carrying their club flags high - each flag representing dedication, growth, and camaraderie behind it.

There will be performances from each Division, dynamic emceeing, and a special Meet-Up, between friends, mentor-mentees, and colleagues designed to strengthen bonds between experienced members and new buds. With Toastmasters traveling from across Nepal and even abroad, the event promises a unique mix of learning, laughter, and fellowship with uniquely unexpected impromptu performances on the floor itself.

More than speeches and stages

What makes Toastmasters special in Nepal is its community spirit. Every meeting is a safe space, a place where fears are overcome, ideas are shared, and confidence is built. Whether in a boardroom, classroom, or café, members support each other with honest feedback and unfiltered encouragement.
