KATHMANDU, MARCH 4
Nepalaya, a prominent book publication house, has unveiled a new book titled 'Bahadur Shah,' shedding light on significant yet overlooked figures in the nation's history.
Authored by Chiranjivi Wagle, deeply immersed in political life and known for his parliamentary and ministerial roles, the book portrays Bahadur Shah's legacy, continuing the state expansion initiated by his father, Prithvi Narayan Shah.
Bahadur Shah emerges as a courageous and visionary figure, extending Nepal's influence from the Tista River to the east to the Kali River to the west during his regency. However, his life was cut short by mysterious circumstances, halting Nepal's state expansion and palace intrigues.
Despite facing delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Wagley persevered to publish the historic novel 'Bahadur Shah,' recognizing the need to acknowledge characters like Bahadur Shah who made significant yet unrecognized contributions to Nepal's history.
The manuscript was reviewed by renowned scholar late Satyamohan Joshi, whose tribute is included in the book. Joshi emphasizes Bahadur Shah's pivotal role in Nepal's construction, making the book a valuable resource for national history enthusiasts.
"Bahadur Shah played a major role in Nepal's vast construction. This book provides a more readable and reliable source for national history, political students, and patriotic readers," writes Joshi.
This marks the third book by the author, following 'Bandan salama khir' and 'Balidan le bane ko desh', according to Nepalaya.
'Bahadur Shah' joins Nepalaya's tradition of historic narratives, following the publication of Yogesh Raj's novel "Ranhar," centered on Bhaktapur's last Malla king, Ranjit Malla.
Priced at Rs575 for the 316-page edition, 'Bahadur Shah' is available in major bookstores nationwide and as an e-book on thuprai.com and Amazon, catering to readers worldwide.
