New Dimensions!
Sanyukta Timsina is the current talk of the town as the Miss Nepal International 2010 is winning hearts on Indian television screens. Anjila Shrestha catches up with her to talk about her role in ‘2025 Jaane Kya Hoga Aage’
You were out of the scene for some time, what were you up to?
Honestly, I was never in the scene. Miss Nepal 2010 just happened in my life and once I was done with the pageant, life was pretty much back to normal. Then I realised that I needed to pursue my passion for acting so I moved to Mumbai, did my course in acting, auditioned here and there and finally got a break.
How did 2025 Jaane Kya Hoga Aage happen?
Seven months back, I went for an audition at Optimystix Production and luckily, they were casting for a new show, a sitcom (situational comedy). I went ahead, gave a couple of look tests and finally bagged the role.
What excites you most about your latest project?
The fact that it is my first project excites me in itself. The content of the show and the format is interesting and is different from the soap/drama genre. I play a cool character that I can never be in real life; she is a gadget expert and in sync with technology.
What are your expectations from this series?
Anything that you work on is like your baby. You put in so much effort, your blood, sweat and tears and you hope it works out. I hope people will like my work as I have worked hard for this.I also hope that it does well and brings about changes in the Indian television industry with its fresh concept.
Why did you venture into Indian television?
The reason I came to India and chose Bollywood is because it is a more lucrative industry. There's more opportunity here than in Nepal and at the end of the day be it any profession, any individual would choose to work where there is more to do and where you get more in return.
Would you like to work in the Nepali television/ film industry?
Obviously I would love to, but it depends solely on the story, concept and execution.
What do you think it takes to make it big in Bollywood?
Honestly, I don't know what it takes because I have just broken into it. Of course, I want to get into Bollywood and do good movies. But that is a process and I am in no hurry.
Let's get to know you better
If you were a product what would your tagline be?
‘When only the best will do’
Anybody special in your life?
Everybody is special in my life, that's why they are there. If they weren't then they wouldn't be in my life.
What quality in a man are you attracted to?
I have no idea (Laughs)
Your take on...
Sex: What about it?
Same gender marriage: To each his own!
Friends with benefits: Works for men but not necessarily for women. We are too emotional to not get attached.
Your biggest fear: Losing my family.
You can't resist: Chocolates and dessert!
