KATHMANDU:

The renowned banking personality Rajan Singh Bhandari, who has invested nearly four and a half decades in the country's banking sector, released his autobiographical book 'Aphainlai Niyalda' at an event on Saturday.

The book was jointly unveiled by former minister and lawmaker Sharad Singh Bhandari, lawmaker Prof. Dr. Chanda Karki, former governor of Nepal Rastra Bank and member of the Constituent Assembly Dr. Tilak Rawal, former Vice Chancellor of Purvanchal University Dr. Lok Bikram Thapa, and Khem Bahadur Rayamajhi.

Bhandari, who spent 26 years at Nepal Rastra Bank and retired from the position of Executive Director, later became actively involved in the academic sector. Unexpectedly, he became associated with the establishment of Citizens Bank and took significant initiatives for it. He spent 17 years at this bank, serving as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors, according to the press relase issued by the publishing house, Minute Media.

The book encompasses many interesting and significant events he witnessed and experienced during this period. Therefore, this work is also a history written by a witness of an important era in Nepal's banking sector. Employees working in the monetary/financial and banking sectors, from cash counter staff to CEOs, management students, entrepreneurial youth, or general readers, will find themselves connected to various contexts or incidents revealed by the book, the minute media added.

According to Prakash Rimal from the publishing house Minute Media, this book is different from the general autobiographies or life-related 'essays'. The author does not present himself only as a 'hero' but openly discusses his weaknesses as well. Generally, family disputes are hidden in society, but many of these 'rules' do not apply to Rajan Singh Bhandari.

"The book also presents interesting events about how entrepreneurs and businessmen, who deal with large amounts of money, utilize opportunities, how business houses think, and what strategies they adopt towards each other," Rimal further said.

Former minister Bhandari has described this work as an honest expression of a professional. Former Governor Dr. Rawal mentioned that both the fearless nature and professional competence of the author Bhandari are expressed in the book. MP Prof. Dr. Karki said, "No one can deny that the author has established himself as a skilled administrator, a skilled manager, a skilled entrepreneur, and a skilled singer. This book has also revealed another aspect of his kindness, literary capacity, writing skill, and dedication."

This 13-chapter, 312-page book is priced at Rs. 1000. A certain portion of the proceeds from the book sales will be used for the education of meritorious students from underprivileged families through the Shivchandra Memorial Foundation, according to the press release.
