Himalayan comes to Nepal

KATHMANDU: Vivek Automobiles Pvt Ltd, authorised distributor of Royal Enfield, has launched its much-awaited adventure-touring segment motorcycle — Himalayan in the Nepali market on September 22. According to the company, Himalayan is a motorcycle built for adventure and touring in the Himalayas. It is a versatile motorcycle fitted for on and off-road rides.

“The bike is a purpose-built motorcycle well suited for daily commuting, city cruising as well as for long distance riding. The bike with its ground-up design, it is simple and capable to go-anywhere motorcycle that will redefine adventure touring in Nepal,” said Shaji Koshy, Head – Sales, Service and Spares at Royal Enfield India.

According to him, Nepal is an important market for Royal Enfield as they have witnessed immense growth in terms of sales. He informed that the company is also striving to provide an impressive retail experience for their customers so that they can interact and bond over their motorcycling experience.

Powered by a 411 cc engine, Himalayan has a completely new and evolved overhead camshaft engine platform that forms the base for its new long stroke LS 410 engine. It generates a maximum power of 24.5 bhp at 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 32 Nm at 4,000 to 4,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed constant mesh gearbox. The optimised handlebar, seat and foot peg positioning along with a narrow fuel tank, allow the rider to travel with ease.

The Himalayan is equipped with a 300 mm disc brake, two-piston floating calipers at the front and 240 mm disk brake, single piston-floating caliper at the rear. Its external cooling system for the crankcase oil, controls engine temperature under the harshest of use and improves performance by cooling the engine. It has a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres. Available in two shades — Granite Black and Snow White, the bike is priced at Rs 561,000.
