Nepal's greatest, longest festival Badadashain begins
KATHMANDU: Badadashain, the greatest and longest festival of Nepali Hindus, has officially begun on Saturday with Ghatasthapana.
Ghatasthapana is being observed by people performing puja, setting up a ghata, a water vessel, and sowing seeds of barley, wheat, corn and rice, at homes and temples in accordance with centuries-old tradition.
The devotees will put the saplings, called jamara, when they put on Dashain Tika on the 10th day of 15-day festival.
