NEPALGUNJ, FEBRUARY 9

As part of election security measures, 75 licensed firearms have been deposited with the police in Banke district, officials said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Patali stated that the weapons were submitted to police offices across the district following a directive from the District Administration Office ahead of the March 5 House of Representatives election. The weapons will be returned after the polls.

Meanwhile, preparations for voter education are underway. Election Officer Tek Bahadur Shahi said, 81 volunteers-one in each ward, will be mobilized after receiving training.

Banke has 350,371 registered voters, with 139 voting centres and 400 polling stations across its three constituencies.
