BHOJPUR: A person died and eight others sustained injuries as a passenger bus they were travelling on overturned after brake failure in Bhojpur Municipality-6 of Bhojpur district today.

The deceased has been identified as Hem Kumari Karki (49) of Pyauli in Arun Municipality-3 of the district.

Likewise, the injured have been identified as Kishor Rai of Basikhor in Ram Prasad Rai Municipality-8, Dilmaya Karki and Bishnumaya Karki of Pyauli, Sita Kumari Rai of Bhainsipankha in Bhojpur Municipality-10, Goma Tamang of  the district headquarters, Pushpa Bahadur Paudel of Mahalaxmi Municipality-4, Bhuwan Singh Tamang of Likuwapokhari in Sankhuwasabha district, and the bus driver Asharam Sardar of Biratnagar Metropolis in Morang  district.

According to Bhojpur District Police Office, the passenger bus (Ko 1 Kha 3059), headed towards Dharan from Bhojpur district headquarters at 11:00 am, overturned, crushing one of its passengers to death near Deurali Chok this morning.

It has been reported that the woman fell from the bus door as the bus overturned and was crushed by the vehicle. The bus of 'Sumnima Paruhang Yatayat' was carrying a total of 16 passengers.

Meanwhile, all the injured are receiving treatment at District Hospital, Bhojpur, police informed.
