KATHMANDU: A person died and another sustained injuries after a motorcycle hit a pedestrian in Triyuga Municipality-5 of Udayapur district on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as motorcyclist Shivaram Chaudhary and injured as pedestrian Suraj Chaudhary, both residents of the locality.

According to police, the incident occurred when the motorcycle (Sa 5 Pa 9228) en route from Gaighat to Jaljale hit Chaudhary near Deuri Bridge at 8:15 pm yesterday, injuring both the motorcyclist and pedestrian.

Shivaram Chaudhary succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital while the injured Suraj has been sent to Biratnagar-based Neuro Hospital for treatment, informed Area Police Office, Jaljale.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
