NEPALGUNJ: A raft overturned in Karnali River in Bardiya district today, killing at least a person.

Two went missing since the incident at around 3 pm on Monday while 10 have been rescued, police said.

The accident occurred when the raft, travelling in high speed, with 13 persons on board hit a tree on the river bank in Sarkhal Bhatera area in Patabhar VDC.

SP Govinda Ram Pariyar of the Bardiya District Police Office said Balkhima Pandey (60) of Lamki, Karnali died in the accident.

According to the police, search operations for the missing are underway.
