KATHMANDU: A person has been killed and nine others injured after a jeep they were travelling on fell downhill from Chaitebhir, a hill in Yangwarak Rural Municipality-3 of Panchthar district today.

The deceased has been identified as Kailash Adhikari (35) of Chyangthapu in the district.

The jeep (Me 1 Ja 2051) heading towards Phidim, the district headquarters, from Yangwarak skidded off the muddy road and fell about 250 metres below killing Adhikari on the spot and injuring others, at around 8:00 am today, police informed Rastriya Samachar Samiti.

The injured were taken to District Hospital, Panchthar for treatment, said police.

It is said that the jeep was carrying 10 people when the incident occurred.
