Bus rear-ends scooter killing its rider in Pokhara

POKHARA: A person died after the scooter he was riding on was struck by a passenger bus in Lamachaur of Pokhara on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Ram Bahadur Bhandari (51) of Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City-19 in Kaski district.

The incident occurred when the electrical scooter was rammed from behind by the bus (Ga 1 Kha 6454) heading towards Bagar from Lamachaur at around 6:30 pm yesterday, killing Bhandari on the spot, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khadga Bahadur Khatri at the District Police Office, Kaski.

Meanwhile, police have impounded the bus being operated by Pokhara Bus Entrepreneur Committee and detained its driver for further investigation into the incodent.

Police have now resumed the vehicular movement along the road which the locals had obstructed as a protest demanding strict action against the vehicle driver since this morning.
