HETAUDA: One person was killed and other sustained serious injuries after being hit by a truck while riding a scooter at Chapro in Taha Municipality-12 in Makwanpur district, on Thursday.

According to police the truck (Na 6 Kha 2906) heading to Palung from Kathmandu collided head on with the scooter (Ba 93 Pa 1264) coming from opposite direction.

The scooter rider Sanjeev Titung of Deurali in Taha Municipality-11 in the district, died on the spot while a pillion rider Bikash Ghalan (14) of Deurali has been rushed to Kathmandu for treatment.

Police have impounded the vehicle. However, the truck driver is on the run after the incident, Makwanpur District Police Office said.

Meanwhile, the investigation is underway.
