1 killed, 40 injured in Dhading road accident

BAIRENI: A person died on the spot and 40 others sustained injuries after a bus carrying wedding attendants fell to its side along the Prithvi Highway in Galchhi Rural Municipality-6 of Dhading district this morning.

Police identified the deceased as Dolma Tamang (14) of Belkotgadhi Municipality-5 in Nuwakot district, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Raj Kumar Baidawar at Dhading District Police Office. 

The incident occurred at 4:30 am today when the bus (Ba 2 Kha 6268), en route to Amlekhgunj of Bara district from Belkotgadhi of Nuwakot, lost balance while trying to avoid a pothole on a road and fell on its side at Ghumti near Baireni Bazaar, informed police. 

Among the injured, 17 are in critical condition and have been sent to Kathmandu-based National Trauma Centre for treatment while the remaining are receiving treatment at various health facilities in Baireni and Galchhi.

It has been reported that the blacktopped road in front of Galchhi Rural Municipality Office is filled with potholes past one year with no attempt to repair it.

The Gajuri-based site office of Road Department later filled the potholes with gravel.
