1 missing and 11 hurt as bus plunges into Marsyangdi

DAMAULI: As many as 11 persons sustained injuries and one went missing after a passenger bus plunged into Marsyangdi River from a bridge in Abukhaireni along the Prithvi Highway on Thursday afternoon.

DSP Surendra Bahadur Gurung said three seriously injured have been sent to the B&B Hospital in Kathmandu for further treatment.

Similarly, one has been referred to Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur and others are undergoing treatment at a local hospital in Abukhaireni, added Gurung.

The passenger bus (Na 4 Kha 7924) heading to Abukhaireni of Tanahun district from Mugling of Chitwan district met with accident after smashing into a speed breaker along the highway and plunged some 75 metres down the road.

DSP Gurung added 12 passengers were on board the bus.

According to Inspector Lem Pratap Sen at Abukhairini Area Police Office, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepali Army and local people were involved in rescuing the injured passengers.

Meanwhile, Sen added that the details of the incident are awaited.
