RAJBIRAJ: Property worth around Rs 3.6 million was gutted after a fire engulfed 10 houses in Surunga Municipality-9, Saptari on Saturday.

According to Police, the fire that started from the house of Badri Mandal at around 1 pm destroyed the house of eight families including  Bidhya Mandal, Bhadai Mandal, Manoj Mandal, Bhola Mandal, Shiva Mandal, Dashrath Mandal, and Adhikalal Mandal.

It took an hour to douse the fire that spread quickly after strong winds aided it, locals said.

The fire was doused with the help of locals, Nepal Police and Nepal Army personnel, Inspector Surendra Shrestha, Area Police office, Kadarbona informed.

The cause behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, Shrestha added.
