3 killed, 12 injured in Palanchok bus fall

KATHMANDU: At least three persons died when a bus fell off a road in Palanchok of Kavrepalanchok district on Friday evening.

Other 12 persons have sustained injuries.

DSP Nabin Raj Rai at the District Police Office said two of the victims have been identified as Arjun Kharel (65) from Kharelthok of Kavre, Rasila Tamang from yet-to-be-identified address.

The third victim, a man, is yet to be identified.

Most of the injured have injuries on heads and backs, according to Rai.

All of the injured are undergoing treatment at the headquarters-based Dhulikhel Hospital.

11 injured in Palanchok bus fall; casualties suspected

KATHMANDU: At least 11 persons sustained injuries when a bus they were travelling on fell off a sloping road in Palanchok of Kavrepalanchok district on Friday evening. Three of them are critical.

A duty officer at the Dhulikhel-based District Police Office told THT Online that the bus (Ba 4 Kha 1913) was carrying around 15 to 20 persons from Kathmandu to the Palanchok Bhagawati Temple.

He suspected that some persons might have been killed in the accident, though the DPO was yet to confirm any death.

"They had hired the bus belonging to the Dakshinkali Yatayat to pay homage to the goddess here," he said, informing that the bus fell around 100 metres down from the road near Bhanchhepokhari of Panchkhal-16 at around 6 pm today.

All the injured have been ferried to the headquarters-based Dhulikhel Hospital.

"Locals have told us that the driver and his assistant fled the scene."
