11 killed as jeep falls off road

At least 11 people were killed and five injured when a jeep met with an accident at Ratanmare of Hansapur VDC in Arghakhanchi this afternoon.
According to Arghakhanchi District Police Office, the accident occurred when the jeep, which was heading towards Bandikot of Pyuthan from Sandhikharka of Arghakanchi, fell some 700 metres down the road. Police said nine persons were killed on the spot and two breathed their last while undergoing treatment in Sandhikharka District Hospital. The deceased have been identified as Bhesh Bahadur Thapa of Purkotdaha, Shiva Bahadur Kunwar and Buddhiram Pariyar of Bhanbhane in Gulmi, Shova Roka Magar of Bangemaratha in Pyuthan, Ram Bahadur Gharti, Min Bahadur KC, Chet Bahadur Thapa and Hom Bahadur Gharti of Hansapur in Arghakhanchi and Sita Nepali and Naryan Bahadur Raka of Sandhikharka, Arghakhanchi.
Arghakhanchi Police Chief DSP Nawaratna Poudel said 15 passengers were travelling in the jeep. He said the injured were rescued by locals with the help of Nepal Police and were receiving treatment in the district hospital. Doctors said the condition of one of the injured was critical.
DSP Poudel said the jeep went out of control after the rear wheel of the vehicle got punctured. The accident site is 30 km from Sandhikharka.
