11 Tibetans held for defying prohibition
KATHMANDU; The police today arrested 11 Tibetan exiles including three women for staging protest and chanting anti-China slogans in restricted zone of the Chinese Consular Section at Hattisar. DSP Pradhumna Karki, Kathmandu Operation in-charge, said they had been kept in police custody and would be handed over to Department of Immigration after an investigation.
“They were arrested for their attempt to destroy friendly relationship between China and Nepal,” he added.
Earlier, District Administration Office Kathmandu had ordered the police to keep 23 Tibetan exiles under preventive detention. DAO has prohibited areas surrounding the Chinese Embassy and its Consular Section for use against any kind of protest.
