MALANGWA, FEBRUARY 22
A dozen people were injured in an attack by a jackal in various places of Bishnu Rural Municipality, Sarlahi district.
The jackal entered the human settlement from the nearest jungle and attacked the locals at the break of dawn.
Injured in the attack were Bilat Chaudhary, 65, Shankar Chaudhary, 72, Bhagya Narayan Ray, 54, Pramesh Chaudhary, 25, Ranjana Kumari Shah, 28, and her five-year-old son Anamol Shah from Madhuban Goth at Ward 4 of Bishnu.
Similarly, Ram Babu Ray, 35, Ramananda Prasad Yadav, 58, Gharilal Thakur, 50, Mahendra Baitha, 60, Subash Baitha, 6, and Samjhadevi Jha of Ward 2 of Bishnu were also injured in the district, according to Sarlahi District Police Office.
Among the injured, nine have received deep cuts and they have been sent to a Teku-based hospital while the remaining others are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Malangwa, Sarlahi.
The 'immunoglobulin vaccine' that is administered to those bitten by jackal is only available in Kathmandu.
The locals have been terrorised following the jackal attack in the village today.
Police said that many of the injured people were yet to reach health facilities for treatment.
