BIRGUNJ: A 12-year-old girl has been brutally raped by a neighbour at her own house, in Jhabaraha of Parsagadi Municipality-3 in Parsa district, on Wednesday, police said.

According to Parsa District Police Office, local Sitaram Paudel took advantage of his prey being unattended at house and pounced her while changing uniform after school this afternoon.

The victim, upon her parents arrival, narrated the incident. Later, relatives of the victim filed an FIR (first information record) at the Parsa District Police Office.

Superintendent of Police (SP) at the DPO Dr. Ganesh Regmi, said "The perpetrator was arrested instantly and sent to judicial custody for further investigation."

Meanwhile, the victim is undergoing treatment at the Birgunj-based Narayani Sub-regional Hospital, police said.

The news of the rape came to the fore within two-weeks of another similar incident in the district, wherein a 10-year-old girl was brutally, repeatedly, raped.
