Narayangarh, January 21:

Thirteen former security personnel were arrested today on the charge of vandalising 26 vehicles in Chitwan yesterday, the Chitwan district police office said at a press conference held here today.

The army and police personnel had quit their job during the 10-year-long insurgency.

Demanding reinstatement, the security personnel had organised a Chitwan bandh yesterday.

They had blocked vehicular movement on major roads in Chitwan and vandalised vehicles.

Four former army men, three former Armed Police Force personnel and six former policemen were arrested, DSP Maya Kumar Shah said, adding, all the arrested hailed from Madi in Chitwan. Strict action will be taken against all the arrested, DSP Shah said.

According to police, the former security personnel had vandalised 26 vehicles.
