Dhankuta, April 20:
In the duration of two months of Falgun and Chaitra 2060, a total of 13 civilians were killed by the Maoists and the security forces in the eastern development region. The security forces had killed one civilian in Terhathum during security operation while the Maoists killed five civilians in Jhapa, five in Morang and one each in Dhankuta and Udayapur districts. This killing of the civilians comes in contrast to the Geneva Convention which both the warring parties have said would abide by. Lalit Bahadur Thapa, administrator of the RAO said that the figure was the revelation of the fact that Maoists were way ahead in violation of Geneva Convention.
According to the information provided at a programme organised by the RAO yesterday, 59 Maoists and 37 security personnel were killed during the two months of violence.
