13 rape incidents in Makawanpur this fiscal

Makawanpur district recorded 13 rape cases in the current fiscal till date. Though the data is slightly lower than that of last year, efforts to control crime have not been satisfactory.

At a press meet organised on the premises of District Police Office, Makawanpur, DSP Dilipraj Jha said that crime control efforts had not been gratifying.

As many as 22 rape cases were reported in the district last fiscal while the district registered 19 cases of cape in the previous year.

SP Bikashraj Khanal said police were committed to checking felony and those guilty in rape incidents would be booked at any cost.

Meanwhile, Sister Society Makawanpur today submitted a memorandum to Province 3 Chief Minister Dormani Poudel seeking stern action against people involved in violence against women and rapists.

Society Chairperson Radha Singtan handed over the memorandum to the CM. The memorandum seeks life term for rapists, suspension of police personnel who refuse to file rape case, among others.
