14 idols stolen from Chandannath Baba Temple in Jumla
JUMLA: As many as 14 idols of different sizes including the one of the four-handed deity, Dattatreya, were stolen from the Chandannath Baba Temple in Jumla on Saturday.
Not only the idols, but other valuables might have also been stolen from the Temple, informed the Chief District Officer, Rudra Prasad Pandit.
The head of the Dattatreya idol had a crest made of gold while rest was of silver, informed a local. The idol weighed 28.8 kg, he added.
Among other idols stolen are the 18-handed goddess statue made of gold and silver, a Buddha statue made of copper and bronze and other statues of various gods and goddesses.
Police have now cordoned off the temple premises while an investigation regarding the case is underway, informed the District Police Office, Jumla.
