14 PLA fighters defect to rebel Matrika’s camp
DAMAK: Fourteen PLA combatants joined the Matrika Yadav-led CPN-Maoist deserting the First Division Cantonment at Chulachuli,Ilam at a programme organised in Damak today.
Among those to join Matrika's rebellion camp were--one platoon commander, three vice platoon commanders, two section commanders and the PLA combatants-- of the ex-rebels. They clarified that they left the UCPN -Maoist as it was deviated from the revolutionary spirit and there had been cases of discrimination among the combatants in the cantonment.
Platoon commander Shiva, vice platoon commanders Saran, Bidrohi and Suresh, Section commanders Ashok and Rajendra and members of PLA Kundan, Subash, Kumar, Sandesh, Sanjaya, Sunil Yadav and Sunil Sardar had left the cantonment some weeks ago.
Participating in a rally organised by the Matrika Yadav-led Maoist Party in Damak, the combatants claimed that many combatants would leave the cantonment soon. They claimed that the PLA combatants, who fought during the insurgency, were neglected in the cantonment. They claimed that there was need for a fresh revolutionary movement in the country.
The UNMIN had verified three thousand combatants in the First Division Headquarter of Ilam. There are sub- cantonments in Danabari of Ilam and Tadi and Yangsila of Morang under the first division headquarter.
